Itinerary Summary

Day 1: Luang Prabang | Cultural Charms & Night Markets

  • Discover Luang Prabang, the cultural heart of Laos and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its golden temples, saffron-robed monks, and French colonial charm. In the evening, wander through the lively night markets filled with hilltribe crafts and handwoven textiles.

Day 2: Luang Prabang | Adventure at Kuang Si Waterfall

  • Spend the day at Kuang Si Waterfall, the largest in the area, with three cascading tiers leading to azure pools.
  • Trek to the top of the waterfall while foraging for herbs, mushrooms, and bamboo shoots.
  • Participate in fishing local style and prepare a 'jungle-style' picnic lunch with your fresh finds. Later, visit the Asian Bear Rescue Centre to meet rescued bears in a natural habitat.

Day 3: Luang Prabang | Immersive Rice Farming

  • Experience Visit a community-based rice farm in the countryside and engage in traditional farming activities.
  • Learn from local villagers about bamboo weaving, blacksmithing, and sugar cane processing.
  • In the afternoon, head to Suan Phao Petanque playground to enjoy rounds of Petanque, a game introduced during French colonial rule.

Day 4: Luang Prabang | Buffalo Dairy Farm Experience

  • Spend a day at Laos’ first buffalo dairy farm, a socially responsible venture that produces dairy products from buffalo milk.
  • Participate in a mozzarella-making class with an Australian chef, wash and feed buffaloes, and, for the adventurous, try your hand at hand-milking a buffalo. Learn about the farm's collaboration with local buffalo farmers.

Day 5: Luang Prabang | Join the Tuk-Tuk Library’s School Run

  • Experience a unique opportunity to join the Tuk-Tuk Library on a visit to a village school.
  • This mobile library supplies rural schools with books and learning activities.
  • Engage with students as the librarians distribute book bags and conduct fun reading games, promoting teamwork and respect for books.

Days 6-7: Luang Prabang – Vientiane | Temples, Art & Spiritual Spaces

  • Arrive in Vientiane, the laid-back capital along the Mekong, and stroll through its blend of ancient temples and colonial charm.
  • Visit the historic Wat Ho Phakeo and Wat Si Saket, known for its hundreds of Buddha images.
  • The next day, explore the surreal Buddha Park, filled with symbolic sculptures, then visit Lao Textiles Studio to witness the art of traditional weaving and natural silk dyeing.

Days 8-9: Vientiane | Farming Experience & Farewell

  • Spend the day at an organic farm outside Vientiane, guided by a local NGO.
  • Try your hand at traditional Lao farming—planting or harvesting rice (seasonal), fishing, and preparing a picnic lunch with sticky rice and papaya salad.
  • On Day 9, transfer to the airport for your onward journey, bidding farewell to Laos.
