Itinerary Summary

Days 1-2: Phnom Penh to Sen Monorom | Welcome to Cambodia and Highland Homestay

Arrive in Phnom Penh, where you have the rest of the day to explore the capital’s rich history and vibrant atmosphere. The next day, travel to the serene town of Sen Monorom, often referred to as the “Switzerland of Cambodia” for its rolling hills and cool climate. After lunch at a local coffee plantation, visit a minority village for an authentic homestay experience. Spend the evening cooking a traditional BBQ meal with the villagers and sharing stories over home-brewed rice wine.

Day 3: Sen Monorom | Jungle Trek and Waterfall Picnic

Set off for a day of trekking through the lush jungles surrounding Sen Monorom, passing through picturesque landscapes and rugged terrain. Explore hidden caves and stop at the stunning Leng Oung Waterfall, where you’ll enjoy a swim and a traditional bamboo soup and BBQ lunch by the water. The trek continues through dense jungle, offering more breathtaking views before returning to the village.

Days 4-5: Sen Monorom to Kratie to Banlung | Dolphin-Spotting on the Mekong

Travel to Kratie, a riverside town known for its close proximity to the Mekong’s critically endangered Irrawaddy dolphins. After an evening of relaxation, embark on a boat cruise the next morning to the Kampi Dolphin Pool, the largest dolphin habitat in the Mekong. With luck, you’ll spot these rare freshwater dolphins in their natural environment. In the evening, your guide will brief you on the upcoming jungle trek in Virachey National Park.

Day 6: Banlung to Virachey National Park | Begin the Jungle Trek

Transfer to Kachon for a scenic longboat ride along the Sesan River, entering the lush wilderness of Virachey National Park. Begin your trek through diverse landscapes, from tropical forests to rice paddies and dense jungle. Cross the O’Plong River and hike to the highlands, learning about edible plants, wild forest foods, and indigenous hunting techniques along the way. Set up camp for an overnight stay under the stars.

Day 7: Virachey National Park | Jungle Exploration and Night Wildlife Hike

Rise early and continue your trek deeper into the dense jungle. With sections of the trail nearly untouched, much of the path must be cleared with a machete. The reward is worth it, with sweeping views and immersive jungle scenery. After lunch, head back toward the Sesan River and set up camp by a small stream. As night falls, embark on a guided night hike in search of nocturnal wildlife, including Pygmy Slow Loris and Civet cats.

Day 8: Virachey National Park to Banlung | Final Trek and River Island Escape

Complete the last leg of your jungle trek, heading east through dense forest. After reaching the village of Leng Auw, take a boat to the idyllic island of Koh Pong for a relaxing afternoon. Enjoy lunch and a swim on the island’s sandy shores before cruising back to Banlung for a well-earned rest.

Day 9: Banlung to Siem Reap via Koh Ker | Discover Ancient Khmer Civilizations

Journey to Siem Reap, stopping at the remote 10th-century temple complex of Koh Ker, once the capital of the Khmer Empire. Surrounded by thick jungle, this lesser-visited site offers a glimpse into Cambodia’s ancient past. Arrive in Siem Reap by late afternoon, ready to explore the iconic Angkor temples.

Day 10: Siem Reap | Cycling Through the Temples of Angkor

Spend the day on a cycling tour of the Angkor Archaeological Park, exploring some of the most famous temples in the complex. Visit Ta Prohm, where massive fig trees grow through the ancient stone ruins, creating an enchanting atmosphere of a forgotten city. Cycle to Angkor Thom, the former royal capital of the Khmer Empire, and marvel at the enigmatic stone faces of Bayon Temple.

Day 11: Siem Reap | Sunrise at Angkor Wat and Departure

Start your final day with an unforgettable sunrise at Angkor Wat, Cambodia’s most iconic temple and the world’s largest religious monument. After soaking in the stunning views, transfer to Siem Reap International Airport for your onward journey, concluding your Cambodian adventure.
