Our Commitment to Reducing Waste
At Quiet Asia, we believe that responsible business starts with the small decisions we make every day. Reducing waste in our office is one of the practical steps we are taking to lower our environmental impact.
Following the 5R Principle
Our waste management approach is guided by the 5R principle: Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repair and Recycle.
- Refuse what we don’t need, especially unnecessary packaging and single-use items.
- Reduce consumption by limiting printing and avoiding excess materials.
- Reuse items wherever possible instead of choosing disposable alternatives.
- Repair equipment and furniture rather than replacing them immediately.
- Recycle what cannot be reused and ensure proper waste separation.
Reducing Paper and Packaging
We encourage our team to print double-sided whenever printing is necessary and prioritise digital communication to reduce paper use. While double-sided printing is not yet set as a default on all printers, staff are regularly reminded to minimise paper consumption.
We also prioritise bulk purchasing to reduce packaging waste and avoid products with excessive or double packaging where possible.
Choosing Reusable and Long-Lasting Products
Whenever possible, we choose refillable and recyclable supplies such as toner cartridges and soap dispensers. Staff are encouraged to use reusable water bottles and mugs instead of single-use cups or plastic bottles.
We aim to purchase durable, high-quality, and repairable products to extend their lifespan and reduce waste generation.
Managing Waste Responsibly
Waste is separated where local recycling systems are available. We are working to better understand the type and volume of waste we produce so that we can set measurable improvement targets in the future.
Continuous Improvement
We recognise that reducing waste is an ongoing process. Our goal is to gradually reduce general waste, increase recycling rates, reduce reliance on plastic bags, and continue improving our purchasing practices.
Sustainability is a journey, and we are committed to making steady, practical improvements that align with responsible tourism and environmental care.
